blue cheese and honeyThis is the simplest way to wow your guests at Rosh Hashanah, or at any other gathering. Serve this as either an appetizer or a dessert. Make individual servings, arranged on a platter surrounding a decorative hunk of comb and a wedge of cheese. Garnish with lavender flowers or a sprig of a seasonal herb.

  • Large chunk of hard or semi-soft cheese
  • 1-to-2-inch block of honeycomb or liquid honey
  • Crackers
  • Baguette slices
  • Apple slices
  • Pear slices (optional)

Place the wedge of cheese on a platter next to the honey. Surround the cheese and honey with crackers, bread, apples, and pears.

*Solve the problem of sticky fingers by having a small bowl of warm water with napkins on the table. Suggested cheeses: blue cheese, such as Stilton or Gorgonzola; Monterey Jack; Manchego; or sharp Cheddar.
