Kitchen Compost Collector
Store kitchen wastes for the compost pile indoors without odor problems by layering the scraps with sawdust or soil in a bucket or other container. Each day, add kitchen scraps to the container and then top with a 1-inch layer of sawdust, soil, or coffee grounds to absorb and hold odors. Continue layering until you have enough materials to warrant a trip to the compost pile. Smaller households might get by with a single clay pot for a collector.
